This house, named Lake Ville V, is a masterpiece designed by Chih-Da Lin of Superorganism Architects for a Great Producer in Xintiandi, the most exclusive area in Shanghai. The design of this mansion took two and a half years to complete and combines the elements of the east and west, classics and trends, fashion and eternity, creating a harmonious coexistence.
Taking into consideration the owner's lifestyle, the designer planned more possibilities for social life and work in this 500 square meter home. The outdoor space of 200 square meters is especially rare in Shanghai, where land is expensive. The decoration design aims to express an artistic atmosphere of lifestyle, with a focus on the ductility of the entire space and the concreteness of every detail. The result is a space that exudes beauty beyond life and a unique temperament that emanates from within.
In the garden space, natural materials such as plants, stones, and woods are used to create a multi-level space with different textures, adding richness to the overall design. The combination of historic context and contemporary life is seamlessly integrated, creating a luxurious and elegant atmosphere.
The design team, consisting of Chih-Da LIN, Takang Hsu, Emily Chang, Stacy Song, Tiffany Shi, and Amber Chen, worked together to bring this vision to life. Their attention to detail and understanding of the owner's character and lifestyle resulted in a space that not only meets functional needs but also creates an artistic and dynamic environment.
Through the transformation of the plane layout, life in this mansion has more variability and flexibility. The design language and time and space dialogue initiated by Chih-Da Lin reflect the theme of "Let's Play," encouraging the inhabitants to explore and enjoy the space to the fullest.
The Lake Ville V mansion was completed in August 2021 in Shanghai, China. The design process involved extensive research on lifestyle and spatial layout to ensure a natural and smooth flow throughout the interior. Overcoming the challenge of expressing emotions through decoration, the designer used art as the main language to create a space that exudes charm and love, turning a house into a home.
This exceptional design was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2022. The award recognizes designs that demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness, and a commitment to improving quality of life through art, science, design, and technology.
